| Hogwarts Express
The Hogwarts Express is a passenger train which makes a run between King's Cross Station, London, and Hogsmeade Station near Hogwarts. The train is pulled by a scarlet steam locomotive. There is no dining service, but a witch pushes a tea trolley through the train midway through the trip, selling various types of sweets and iced pumpkin juice.

| The Sorting Hat
The hat is battered and old; it's patched, frayed, and extremely dirty. In order to speak and sing, a tear along the brim opens like a mouth. Tthe Sorting Hat was bewitched by all four of the founders of Hogwarts with brains and some amount of personality. It's function is to determine which of the four houses each new student will enter. The first year students one by one place the Sorting Hat on their head. Within a minute, it loudly proclaims the house for which they are best suited.

To get to the kitchens, take the door to the right of the main staircase in the entrance hall. Follow the corridor until you come to a painting of a bowl of fruit. Tickle the pear and it giggles and becomes a door handle.

Here at Hogwarts the potions lessons take place down in one of the dungeons. It is colder here than up in the main castle, and is quite creepy enough without the pickled animals floating in glass jars all around the walls.

Are you sly, cunning, and somewhat evil? The entrance is a hidden door in a blank stone wall, which opens by password. A labyrinth of corridors separates this entrance from the stone staircase leading up to the Entrance Hall.

This unused classroom is very mysterious indeed, and is located in the corridor leading off the entrance hall on the opposite side to the Great Hall. You open the door, and it appears you are no longer at Hogwarts, but in the middle of a forest.

Enter to learn about transfiguration. Transfiguration is magic which changes one object into another. It is possible to change inanimate objects into animate ones and vice versa. Some Transfiguration spells alter a part of something, such as changing a person's ears from normal into rabbit ears.

| Moaning Myrtles Bathroom
The former girs bathroom, that is often out of use, inhabits the ghost of Moaning Myrtle. The bathroom's wooden cubicles are worn and ill-maintained, and even the stone sinks are chipped. The room is candle-lit, but the candles are in holders rather than a chandelier and there are not enough of them to light the room properly.

The Hogwarts library contains tens of thousands of books on thousands of shelves. Included in its many sections is an Invisibility Section, a section with information about dragons, and a Restricted Section at the back, set off with a rope.

| Fourth Floor Corridor
The corridor below the prefects' bathroom leads from the nearest staircase to the prefects' bathroom on the floor above and has a tapestry hanging about halfway down the corridor. This tapestry conceals a narrower staircase forming a shortcut that leads down two floors, which contains the trick step. The bottom of the staircase is also concealed by a tapestry.

| Prefects Bathroom
Inside, the bathroom's walls, floor, and single sunken bathtub are all made of white marble, lit softly by a candle-filled chandelier that impressed Harry on his first visit. The rectangular tub is the size and depth of a swimming pool, and even has a diving board, but unlike an ordinary pool the tub is lined with about a hundred taps, each with a differently coloured jewel set into the handle. Each tap automatically releases not only water, but bubble bath (a different kind of bubble bath for each colour-coded handle). A pile of fluffy white towels are kept in one corner.

| Room of Requirement
The Room of Requirement is a magical room which can only be discovered by someone who is in need. The Room is located on the seventh floor, opposite a tapestry showing Barnabas the Barmy trying to teach trolls to dance the ballet. To make the Room appear, a person has to walk past the section of blank wall three times concentrating hard on what is needed.

If you know the right password to tell the fat lady, she opens to reveal a round opening in the wall leading into the Gryffindor common room, which is the lowest floor of the tower. This is a common room with squashy armchairs, a fireplace, and tables.

| Astronomy Tower
The top of this tower where observation sessions are held for Astronomy is more or less directly above the front entrance of the castle; the top of the tower has a parapet. A steep spiral staircase leads to the top of the tower, with a door (which has an iron ring as a handle) leading out onto the ramparts, which are crenellated. To get from the foot of the Astronomy Tower's staircase to the staircase leading to the entrance hall, one must pass through two corridors before rounding the corner to see the staircase leading (eventually) to the Entrance Hall.

The owlery is located here. The floor was entirely covered in straw, owl droppings, and the regurgitated skeletons of mice and voles. Hundreds upon hundreds of owls of every breed imaginable were nestled here on perches that rose right up to the top of the tower, nearly all of them asleep.

Students at Hogwarts start Care of Magical Creatures in their third year. They study the life cycles of various magical creatures, some of which can be rather dangerous. They learn to care for, feed, and manage the creatures, and also learn more about them and how to use them (or parts of them) for magical purposes.

| Hogsmeade (9 sub-boards)
Hogsmeade is the only entirely wizarding village in Britain. It's a picturesque village of little thatched cottages and shops. During the holiday season, enchanted candles hang in the trees. Hogwarts is located quite near the village; a road runs around the school grounds to Hogsmeade Station, where the Hogwarts Express stops to disembark the students at the start of term.
